Before the empire began to regulate the use of magic, the shamans ruled over the arcane arts as the clerics of their time. Even though they practice both the destructive black and the preserving white magic, they are now displayed in a fully negative light by the mages and the priests of the empire. The only shamans that remain on the continent now come from remote areas where the imperial rule is more lax or non-existent.
